Visitors to the Garden

I love seeing a formerly depleted space now full of life. Growing up I was never a “bug kid” but I feel like creating this garden has made me a “bug adult”. The identifications I’ve made are my best guesses, using this tool, please reach out to let me know any corrections. Since they are so small, you’ll definitely need to click on the images to see who was there.

Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta)
The only cicada I saw in Rogers Park the whole summer
An invasive Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle (Harmonia axyridis)
On the same plant as the fake lady beetle we can see a Seven-spotted Ladybug (Coccinella septempunctata)
An unknown green dragonfly blends in to the foliage
Honey Bee (Apis mellifera)
Harvestman (Opiliones) aka Daddy Long Legs
Boxelder Bug (Boisea trivittata)
Yellowjacket (Vespula squamosa)
I was hoping for a Green Metallic Bee (Agapostemon virescens) but instead found a Green Bottle Fly (Lucilia sericata)
Crane Fly (Tipula spp.)
Another fly this time Common Greenbottle Fly (Lucilia caesar)
My favorite visitor and by far the hardest to capture a clear photo of, a Common Eastern Bumble Bee (Bombus impatiens)
