Let’s Grow Rogers Park: A Native Garden Project for and by the Community

It’s almost time! We’ll be planting this Saturday, May 31st, starting around 11 AM at the corner of Howard and Eastlake Terrace. I apologize for the last minute notice.
I’ll have some basic tools and native plants donated by our lovely neighbor Jared. Feel free to bring any tools, snacks or plants you’d like to contribute, too!

The plan is to get our hands in the dirt, have some fun, and bring the space to life together. Whether you can stay for an hour or the whole morning, every bit of help makes a difference.

Here are a few garden needs that have come up — any help would be hugely appreciated!

Saturday Specific Help:

  • Ripping up landscaping fabric – strong arms and gloves welcome!

Anytime Help (Before or After Saturday):

  • Solar irrigation kit – if someone has good spatial skills and can help me set it up
  • Boulders or large rocks – to create a natural garden border
  • A sculptural fallen log – for pollinators who like to drill into wood for their home, example below
  • Weatherproof signage – for educational or decorative purposes

Also, I’ll be giving away some hyssop and vervain — they’re beautiful pollinator plants, but fair warning: they can get pretty tall!

I’ve attached a flyer in case you’d like to share it with friends or neighbors. Let me know if you have any questions, ideas, or materials you’d like to contribute.

Can’t wait to see you Saturday!
